A Venture Studio for University Research

Same research. No engine to capture it. Until now.

Top research universities don't out-invent everywhere else — they out-commercialize. Just Builds brings that missing engine to Historically Black Colleges and Universities: disclosure to license, license to company, company to capital — at zero cost to the institution.

What We Provide

A full technology-transfer capability, supplied rather than staffed.

We plug in alongside an existing tech-transfer office, or stand up the function where none exists.

01

Disclosure intake & evaluation

A managed pipeline for faculty and student disclosures — market sizing, freedom-to-operate, and a written build/pass call inside 30 days.

02

IP & licensing strategy

Patent strategy and license terms benchmarked to Harvard, MIT, and Stanford — so HBCU inventors are never offered less.

03

Company formation & capital

We write the plan, recruit the operators, and bring first capital from the studio and our venture partners — then keep growing it.

"The challenge of today is to find new and innovative ways to mine and invest in the human potential of the nation's 101 Historically Black Colleges and Universities." — Dr. Michael Curry, Co-Founder, in ACS Accounts of Chemical Research
Why "Just"

Two meanings, one mission.

Ernest Everett Just

We take our name in part from Ernest Everett Just (1883–1941), the pioneering African American biologist whose rigorous cell research reshaped his field — work produced, in large part, without the institutional engine, funding, and recognition his white peers took for granted.

Justice, Built.

"Just" is also the point: value should return to where discovery actually happens. For too long, brilliant research at under-resourced institutions has gone uncommercialized while the same science, done elsewhere, built billion-dollar endowments. We exist to close that gap.
